A Kiss

kiss v. kissed, kiss·ing, kiss·es. v. –tr. To touch or caress with the lips as an expression of affection, greeting, respect, or amorousness.

The first one you share with someone is always awkward no matter how experienced you are. You’re not sure if it will be on the cheek or on the lips or somewhere completely off the mark. Will it be short and sweet? Will it be long and lingering? Will the noses get in the way? Will it be accompanied by a hug or a squeeze?

Even as important as the kiss itself, is the effect it has. Will it be reciprocated or will it be rebuffed? Will it be the biggest mistake or will it bring on a new love? Does it have some deeper meaning or did someone have one too many margaritas? The true meaning can be hard to figure out.

One thing is for sure, there’s nothing like it.
